The Arizona State men’s basketball team is set to take on the UMass Minutemen in the 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Dec. 21.
This matchup marks the first time ever these two schools will face off against each other, while Rhode Island will take on Temple as part of the double-header.
However, it is not yet determined what time the game will take place.
Regarding the future matchup, UMass head coach Frank Martin said, “Bobby Hurley has built a Top-25 program which is competing for the NCAA Tournament every year. The Hall of Fame Classic provides a lot of excitement to our fanbase, and it will be great to bring Coach Hurley back to the Northeast in a place where the Hurley name means so much to basketball fans.” via the program’s website.
Arizona State struggled last season, finishing 14-18, however head coach Bobby Hurley has added several talents to his roster heading into 2024-25.
Hurley secured commitments from five-star center Jayden Quaintance and four-star prospects Joson Sanon and Amier Ali.
UMass had an impressive 2023-24 campaign, finishing 20-14, which placed them fourth in the A-10 Conference. Senior forward Josh Cohen led the team with a season average of 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
