Look: Four-Star ATH CJ Nickson Makes Decision Between Bedlam Schools

One of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class has made up his mind about where he will spend the next phase of his career.

Four-star ATH CJ Nickson, a 6-foot-6, 235-pound product out of Weatherford (OK) trimmed his list of suitors down to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, making it a Bedlam Battle for the Panhandle State’s top player.

On Tuesday, Nickson announced his destination, sending one side of the in-state rivalry into celebration and the other into disappointment.

In the end, it was Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners who landed the No. 9 edge and No. 74 overall player, according to 247Sports.

After visiting Norman for the “ChampU BBQ” this past weekend, Nickson saw all that he needed to call Norman home, and now he’ll join an Oklahoma class that is starting to pick up some serious steam.

According to a scouting report from 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks, Nickson’s immense potential could lead to him having a future in the NFL, too.

“Big-framed, two-way, multi-sport athlete who should possess immense long-term potential,” Brooks writes.

“…Naturally gifted two-way standout who could play either side at the FBS level, but possesses particularly high-ceiling developmental upside off the edge. Projects to the high-major level with tools to become a pro prospect.”

Nickson’s commitment bumps Oklahoma up to the No. 5 class in the country, according to 247Sports, and No. 4 in Rivals’ estimation.
