Cincinnati’s Aziz Bandaogo Withdraws from NBA Draft

Bryant Bulldogs guard Earl Timberlake (0) handles the ball as Cincinnati Bearcats forward Aziz Bandaogo (55) guards him in the first half of the NCAA Basketball game between the Bryant Bulldogs and Cincinnati Bearcats at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023.

Wes Miller and the Cincinnati Bearcats are already returning loads of production from the previous squad in 2024-25, and on Tuesday, the Bearcats returned yet another key player.

Cincinnati senior forward Aziz Bandaogo revealed to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein that he would withdraw from the 2024 NBA Draft and will play for Cincinnati in 2024-25.

The 7-foot forward from Dakar, Senegal, emerged as one of the better big men in the Big 12 last season at Cincinnati, averaging 6.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in his fourth season of collegiate basketball. In addition to his impressive numbers, Bandaogo connected on 64.2% of his shots from the field and 50% (1-2) from three.

Coming out of NBA Academy Africa in the Class of 20200, Bandaogo was listed as an unranked prospect by most major recruiting services. Three seasons later after time at Akron and Utah Valley, Bandaogo worked himself into a four-star prospect in the 2023 portal class as well as the fifth-ranked player at his position.

With an impressive portal class of three four-star transfers (Texas’ Dillon Mitchell, Bradley’s Conor Hickman, and USC’s Arrentin Page) paired with an impressive cast of returning players, the Bearcats could put themselves in a position to contend for a Big 12 title in the upcoming season if things continue to work in their favor this offseason.
