Cincinnati Bearcats Men’s Basketball 2023-24 Offseason Roster Tracker
The Cincinnati Bearcats are working on assembling their 2023-24 men’s basketball roster and we’ll track every move here throughout the offseason.
Departures
F Kalu Ezikpe: The forward, a transfer from Old Dominion, played his final season of college basketball for the Bearcats. He played in 29 games, averaging 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
G David DeJulius: The super-senior is out of eligibility. He was second on the team, averaging 14.8 points last season and started all 36 games. He also had a team-high 192 assists, helping the Bearcats to the quarterfinals of the NIT.
G Rob Phinisee: Phinisee is out of eligibility. He only played 12 games and missed part of the 2022-23 season with a torn patellar tendon.
G Jeremiah Davenport: He averaged 9.1 points and 4.2 rebounds for the Bearcats last season. But, in early April, he put his name in the transfer portal and ultimately chose to transfer to Arkansas.
Arrivals Via Transfer
G C.J. Fredrick: The former Kentucky guard announced on April 24 that he would transfer to Cincinnati. He has played three years of college basketball and averaged 6.1 points last season for the Wildcats. He has one season of eligibility left, but it his second transfer so he may need a waiver to play this season.
C Jamille Reynolds: The former Temple center committed to the Bearcats on April 9. He averaged 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game on 60.4 percent shooting for the Owls. He will help fortify the Bearcats’ frontcourt.
In the Portal
G Mika Adams-Woods: The senior guard announced on April 14 that he would use his final year of eligibility and return to the Bearcats. But, on May 9 he announced that he was submitting his name for the transfer portal. Adams was a starter last season and he averaged 9.1 points, 3.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds. He is using his COVID waiver to play the 2023-24 season.
F Jarrett Hensley: The forward is in the transfer portal but hasn’t settled on a destination. He played in 23 games and averaged 2.0 points last season.
In the NBA Draft
G Landers Nolley II: The Bearcats guard decided to forego his final year of college eligibility to stay in the NBA Draft, per The Athletic. The fifth-year player led the Bearcats with 16.8 points and was second in rebounds with 5.8 per game.
Expected to Return
G John Newman III: A guard who was entering his final season with Cincinnati, Newman played in just one game in 2022-23 due to injury. The Bearcats intend to pursue an injury waiver that would allow him to play in 2023-24.
F Ody Oguama: On March 29 Oguama announced he would use his COVID waiver and return for a fifth season with the Bearcats. He averaged 5.5 points and 5.4 rebounds and started 21 games last season.
G Dan Skillings Jr.: He played in 35 games last season as a reserve and averaged 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. He was the nation’s No. 41 recruit coming out of high school.
G CJ Anthony: He played just 14 games last season and averaged less than a point per game. He will be looking for more playing time next season.
G Josh Reed: A Rivals Top 150 recruit coming out of high school, he played in 29 games off the bench for the Bearcats.
G Chase Kirkwood: The walk-on played in nine games last season.
F Viktor Lakhin: The redshirt sophomore averaged 11.6 points and 7.1 rebounds (team-high) while starting 32 of the 33 games in which he appeared. He had one of the best shooting percentages in country last season.
C Sage Tolentino: A member of the Rivals Top 150 coming out of high school, the freshman played in just two games last season.
Class of 2023 Recruits
G Jizzle James, Olympia High School (Orlando, FL): One of two players the Bearcats signed that are Top 100 players per 247Sports.com. The four-star player is a Top 10 player in the state of Florida.
F Rayvon Griffith, Compass Prep (Chandler, AZ): Like James, Griffith is a four-star recruit and a Top 10 recruit from his state. He is also No. 67 in the 247Sports.com Top 100 rankings.
