EA Sports College Football 25 is merely hours away at this point, and anticipation for its release couldn’t be higher.
We’ve been given all kinds of “deep dives” into the game’s features and what it looks like in action, but now we’ve got a man of the people able to give his thoughts on college football fans’ newest addiction.
Josh Pate, host of the biggest college football podcast in the world (Late Kick with Josh Pate), has gotten his hands on a copy of CFB25 and can finally share the details of what he’s experienced.
“It hurts me to keep secrets from you guys, but I’ve had to keep a secret locked away for, what feels like weeks now I think. We have the EA Sports CFB25 game. That video game doesn’t come out until like next week. We’ve got it. We played it earlier today,” Pate said on his latest episode.
The game is set to release for pre-order consumers on July 16, but Pate’s already prepared to turn in his initial review on the product.
“They took care of you guys is the first words out of my mouth,” Pate continued. “By the way, there’s not a string in my back, okay? The folks at EA didn’t pull it. There’s nothing in a teleprompter anywhere. They haven’t instructed me on what to say, and in fact, they haven’t told me anything to say, other than ‘get the name of the game right.’ So, I’m shooting you straight here now. They took care of you.”
This next part is going to finally allow some hopeful fans to let down their guard and get excited for the game.
“Your Madden fears can go ahead and be put to rest. This is not Madden,” Pate said. “This is EA CFB25. This is not the Madden game. A lot of you were scared about that, but one of the first things that Producer Jesse said to me is, ‘I hope this isn’t just Madden 2.0. I hop they didn’t use the Madden engine.’ They didn’t. This is the college football engine, it’s very unique to this game.”
The best part—the absolute best part—of Pate’s review was how he concluded it.
“It’s the game you wanted. That’s the thing I wrote down because I don’t have any notes on this. It’s the game you wanted.”
