West Virginia Flips UCF WR Commit Ric’Darius Farmer

UCF has officially made the move to the Big 12, but its elevation into the conference hasn’t stopped other schools from the league from poaching their commitments.
West Virginia is the latest to do so, swooping in and grabbing a commitment from, and consequently signing, Ric’Darius Farmer, a four-star wide receiver out of Melbourne, Florida.
Farmer is listed at 5-foot-11, 160 pounds, and is ranked as the No. 40 wide receiver in the class of 2024, and the No. 395 player in the country.
He held scholarship offers from several Power Five schools, including Arizona State, Iowa State, Miami, Michigan State, Missouri, Penn State, Texas A&M, UCF, and of course, West Virginia.
247Sports Recruiting analyst Andrew Ivans had this to say about Farmer in his evaluation of the future Mountaineer:
“A productive inside receiver that excels in catch-and-run situations. Spent junior season as the go-to target for a Cocoa program that captured a Florida 2S state title, totaling 938 yards and 10 touchdowns on 63 receptions in a pass-happy spread attack. Wins time and time again with strong hands and crafty route running, which is important because he’s not the biggest of pass catchers (measured roughly 5-foot-11, 160 pounds in Spring of 2022). Does a majority of his damage in the middle of the field as he shakes defenders with head fakes, jabs of the feet and double moves before securing the football and searching for more green grass. Doesn’t have much of a track or multi-sport background, but did clock the seventh-fastest 40-yard dash as an underclassmen at a camp loaded with future Power Five skill players. Should be viewed as a potential difference maker in the slot. Will probably need to tack on some mass in the upper half if he wants to be completely fearless on Saturdays, but has what it takes to be a key component of an offense if he can continue to progress and avoid setbacks. Likely to find most success in a scheme that utilizes a lot of three and four-receiver formations.”
West Virginia’s 2024 class now consists of 28 members and ranks 50th nationally and seventh in the Big 12 as of December 20. Meanwhile, UCF’s class stands at 23 members and ranks 36th nationally and fourth in the Big 12.
