The Horned Frogs are suddenly in the spotlight as they head to Waco for No. 9 TCU’s big showdown with No. 5 Baylor.
This old-school rivalry is deadlocked at 51-51-7 with the schools splitting two meetings since it became a conference game again.
Before heading down I-35, here are a few things to know about Baylor.
1. Bryce Petty still Bryce Petty. The Big 12’s best quarterback in 2013 is back for an encore after putting up gaudy numbers as a junior, but Petty hasn’t exactly lived up to the Heisman expectations placed upon him ahead of the season. A year after leading the Big 12 in completions, yards, passer rating and touchdowns, Petty is trailing at least two other quarterbacks in each of those categories this year. Part of a drop in numbers can be attributed to Petty missing Baylor’s second game of the season with a back injury, so he’s likely bound for a second-half push to reestablish himself as the Big 12’s top thrower. He also is still a dangerous runner and will extend plenty of plays with his athleticism.
