Freshman running back Samaje Perine leads Sooners to 45-33 win over West Virginia

True freshman Samaje Perine carried the ball 34 times for 242 yards and four touchdowns, and the Sooners earned a hard-fought 45-33victory inside Milan Puskar Stadium over the upset-minded Mountaineers.

Perine rushed for the most yards by an OU freshman since superstar Adrian Peterson in 2004.

“I try not to buy into all of that,” Perine said of the Peterson comparison. “I just try to keep my head clear and play the next play, play the next game, and do what I have to do to win.”
