Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon has been the most pleasant surprise that folks in Stillwater have had in some time.

There was a feeling that he could be a great player for the Pokes, but a Doak Walker Award winner and the nation’s leading rusher feels like more than most anyone could’ve expected.

The sophomore capped off 2023 with his ninth 100-yard performance of the season, with 118 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys’ 31-23 victory over Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl.

Just ahead of Christmas, OSU fans got quite a gift from the talented tailback, as Gordon announced that he would be returning for the 2024 season.

While the narrative outside of Stillwater was that he was weighing his options to leave, Gordon said after last night’s game that he was always planning to come back.

“I was really never going anywhere,” Gordon said of the rumors that he could be on the move. “The whole time we were just doing it for recruiting, honestly. I was coming back the whole time. My whole team’s coming back. My whole O-line, my whole [group of] receivers, defense, mainly everybody is coming back. I wouldn’t want to play anywhere else where I don’t feel comfortable. I feel comfortable here and everybody’s comfortable with each other, so why would I leave?”

After a 10-4 season and a Big 12 Championship appearance in 2023, Oklahoma State will be a major contender for a conference title in 2024, especially with the best running back in the country back in the backfield.
