Baylor Softball Beats Florida 5-2 To Even Super Regionals

After losing the first game of the Gainesville Super Regional matchup against Florida on Friday, the Baylor Bears answered back in Game Two with a 5-2 win to tie the series at 1-1.

Baylor Infielder Shaylon Govan got things started in the game with a home run to left center that brought in three runs. At the end of the first inning, BU led 3-0.

At the top of the second inning, Florida infielder Reagan Walsh hit a solo homerun to get the Gators on the board as they trailed 3-1.

 

The Bears responded immediately, bringing in a run after infielder Presleigh Pilon got thrown a wild pitch. Outfielder Taylor Strain scored for the Bears to extend its lead to three at 4-1 at the end of the second inning.

After both teams went scoreless in the third and fourth innings, Gators short stop Skylar Wallace hit a single, leading to one RBI to trim the Baylor lead at 4-2 at the top of the fifth inning. Outfielder Kendra Falby was the scoring run for Florida.

The final run of the game came in the sixth inning, where Baylor senior Emily Hott flied out to left field, bringing in one RBI which made the score 5-2.

After Florida could not get on the board in the top of the seventh inning, the Bears won 5-2. Game Three will be played on Sunday and the winner will advance to the College Softball World Series.
